Playford poised for Pelligra land deal

South Australia’s City of Playford Council is poised to enter into contracts to sell two parcels of land to Pelligra as it look to develop a CBD that supports a thriving retail, business and entertainment precinct.

“We are excited to have a developer with the credibility and reputation of Pelligra to share in our vision and see the potential of the north,” said City of Playford Mayor, Glenn Docherty.

“We have created the right conditions and guided processes to ensure we get the type of development our community expects.”

The sports entertainment venue proposal, located on the corner of Main North Road and Philip Highway, includes an indoor ice sports arena, elite rock-climbing facility, two indoor sports courts and gymnasium – supported by a restaurant and other hospitality tenancies.

“Our commitment to delivering a multi-use sports and entertainment hub is an extension of Pelligra’s maturing sports and entertainment business, established to connect the community with opportunities in sport – our investment is a true testament to that vision,” said Chairman of Pelligra Group Pty Ltd, Ross Pelligra.

The commercial office and innovation hub of up to eight storeys, located next to the multideck carpark along Main North Road, will offer space for entrepreneurial start-ups, high growth companies and accelerator programs, as well as offer a hospitality venue, foyer and landscape forecourt.

“We feel our commitment responds to the confidence and observed growth in defence, technology and future industries establishing in the north and believe the asset will represent a central incubator for great outcomes,” said Mr Pelligra.

“My board and I continue to see Playford as a standout market and a true catalyst destination in the north with strong growth prospects and diverse investment opportunities.”

Pelligra is the owner and operator of Lionsgate Business Park, the former Holden manufacturing site, in Elizabeth South. The company is also delivering other major developments across the state in the hotel, office, multi-residential and industrial sectors.

Mayor Docherty said it was Council’s role to create the right property and governance conditions to stimulate investment and generate development.

“These well-advanced proposals tick the boxes in terms of providing entertainment and business opportunities in the heart of our city,” Mayor Docherty said.

“Like the rest of the community, we will eagerly watch on as these developments evolve.

“It’s exciting to envisage our city as it comes to life with these developments and what it means in providing for our growing community now and into the future.”
