City of Swan Council has announced it is conducting a review of its wards and representation, with the public invited to have their say.
Ward boundaries and the number of offices of Councillor for each ward will be reviewed against the following five factors:
- Community of interest;
- Physical and topographic features;
- Demographic trends;
- Economic factors;
- Ratio of councillors to electors in the various wards.
The Council said feedback on the current ward names and suggested changes are also welcome.
A discussion paper outlining the current context, factors to be considered in the review, and options for wards and representation has been prepared.
“The discussion paper is intended to facilitate community consultation and obtain public feedback on the options included, as well as any other options the community may identify for Council’s consideration.,” Council said in a statement.
A copy of the discussion paper is available on the City’s website or can be viewed at all City Offices or any public library within the City of Swan during their opening hours.
Submissions can be provided to the City between September 23 and midnight on November 6 at www.swanengage.com/wards-and-representation-review.
