New appointments to City of Moreton Bay

City of Moreton Bay Council has announced the appointment of Stephanie Challen as General Manager Government and External Relations, and Paul Turner as General Manager Corporate Communications and Engagement.

Mayor, Peter Flannery said the appointment of both candidates was a necessary evolution for the organisation as Australia’s third largest and fastest growing city.

“Stephanie and Paul were stand out candidates during the recruitment process with Stephanie demonstrating extensive executive leadership experience across government and strategic advisory, and Paul providing an exceptional corporate communications and community engagement skillset from his time in journalism, through to Chief Communication Officer at the RACQ and various Chief of Staff and media advisor roles during his career,” Mayor Flannery said.

“In accepting the roles, both Stephanie and Paul have clearly demonstrated an enthusiasm to join a high performing Council and make their mark in their respective departments for the Council and the broader community.”

Ms Challen said joining City of Moreton Bay was an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s fastest growing areas at a time of significant transformation and opportunity.

“Throughout my career I have been motivated by delivering outcomes that improve communities. I look forward to building strong relationships across government, industry and the community, and helping position City of Moreton Bay to maximise opportunities
ahead, while continuing to deliver positive outcomes for the community,” she said.

Mr Turner said it was an exciting time to be joining City of Moreton Bay.

“To be able to steer the newly amalgamated functions of community engagement and corporate communications provides a unique opportunity to integrate all aspects of Council’s engagement into a single message,” he said.

Both roles will report to Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Scott Waters and commence on 18 and 29 June respectively.
