City of Coffs Harbour Council was recognised for its local visitor economy efforts at the 2025 North Coast Tourism Awards and Symposium overnight.

Tourism award finalists and winners were announced at a gala celebration in Byron Bay last night, with the Council acknowledging the strength, innovation and resilience of the North Coast tourism sector.

Major winners included:

  • Spare Chef Catering – silver, tourism restaurants and catering;
  • Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary – bronze, tourism attraction;
  • Aanuka Beach House – finalist, tourism restaurants and catering; finalist, business event venue;
  • City of Coffs Harbour – finalist, tourism services.

At the event, Coffs Harbour was also announced as the host of next year’s North Coast Tourism Symposium and Awards in July.

“We are thrilled to welcome the North Coast Tourism Symposium and Awards back to Coffs Harbour in 2026. We last hosted in 2018 – the first time it was held – and as a destination we’ve evolved considerably since then,” said Mayor, Nikki Williams.

“This event is a valuable opportunity to showcase our region’s exceptional tourism experiences and to bring industry leaders and operators together at Coffs in the heart of the North Coast visitor economy.”

The 2026 program will feature a one-day tourism symposium with leading industry speakers, panel discussions, and networking events, culminating in the awards presentation.

Delegates will also enjoy familiarisation tours with local operators and experiences, highlighting the best of the Coffs Coast.

“The 2026 symposium is expected to deliver a significant economic boost to the economy, with attendees staying in local accommodation, dining in restaurants, and enjoying the region’s attractions,” said Council Acting General Manager, Andrew Beswick.

“Coffs Harbour has proven its ability to host major business events and conferences, and we look forward to highlighting our outstanding local operators, natural assets, and community spirit to the wider industry.”
