Lithgow City Councillor, Deanna Goodsell (pictured), has resigned from the Council, prompting a vote countback to fill the vacancy.
In a statement, a Council spokesperson said, “The role of a councillor is very demanding. The workload in the current Council has been especially busy because of the increased focus on positioning the city for the future.
“Deanna Goodsell made a wonderful contribution as a councillor over a period of six years, strongly representing the community’s views and actively contributing to the positions taken by the Council on complex and challenging matters. We thank Deanna for this.”
The Council has previously taken a decision that in the event of a councillor vacancy occurring, a countback from the results of the 2021 election would be undertaken.
“This will avoid the need for a by-election. The countback will be conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission,” Council said.
