The WA Government, through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program has awarded a further $500,000 to support 72 community initiatives across regional Western Australia.
Since 2020, the program has delivered more than $5 million in funding to support more than 560 initiatives across the State’s regional and remote communities.
Successful recipients include Broome-based arts organisation, Marrugeku, for the delivery of their Cut the Sky video installation across the Kimberley, Pilbara Community Men’s Shed for upgrades to their Karratha facilities and St John Ambulance for their Warnkarunku Wellbeing Walkabout Day in Leonora.
The program will also support a number of cross regional and major events including the Shire of Shark Bay’s annual Beats in the Bay (pictured), Spinifex Spree in Port Hedland, Winter Wonderland in Esperance and the Boab Festival in Derby.
“The Cook Government is committed to supportinglocal initiatives and events in Western Australia’s regional and remote communities, through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program,” said Energy and Decarbonisation Minister, Amber-Jade Sanderson.
“We are proud to see the positive impact the program continues to have in regional Western Australia, supporting hundreds of community initiatives across our state since 2020.
“This program is focused on supporting organisations that have a strong community impact, ensuring that funds go towards initiatives and events that are accessible to many and contribute to the overall wellbeing and vibrancy of our communities.
“These partnerships are making a real difference, delivering positive outcomes and empowering communities across WA,” she said.
The Community Partnerships Program provides funding support up to $50,000, per partnership, to organisations delivering health and wellbeing outcomes in their communities, in the regional energy provider’s service area.
Applications for Horizon Power’s next round of Community Partnerships will open mid-July 2025.
