$1.5m upgraded pavilion opened in Berwick

A new modern and inclusive pavilion has been unveiled by City of Casey Council in Berwick following a $1.5 million upgrade.

Home to Berwick Churches Soccer Club and Berwick Strikers Cricket Club, the former pavilion was extended and upgraded to include a new multipurpose space, servery and an undercover area for spectators. Three storage rooms were also constructed, along with two fully accessible amenities and four additional public amenities.

Mayor, Stefan Koomen; Kowan Ward Councillor, Shane Taylor; Dillwynia Ward Councillor, Anthony Walter; and Kalora Ward Councillor, Melinda Ambros, were joined by Lee Tarlamis MP and Michael Galea MP to officially open the upgraded pavilion at Grices Road Recreation Reserve.

“This upgrade is a great investment in our local community and the people who use Grices Road Recreation Reserve every week,” said Mayor Koomen.

“By expanding and improving the pavilion, we’ve made the space more accessible, functional and welcoming for players, volunteers, spectators and the wider community.”

Delivered in partnership with the Victorian State Government, the project was supported by a $1.2 million Community Sport and Recreation Grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, alongside a $321,370 contribution from Council.
