The Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) is mourning the sudden passing of its Chief Executive Officer, Charles Casuscelli RFD.
Mr Casuscelli was appointed CEO of WSROC in 2015 and remained a tireless advocate for Western Sydney since, the Council group said in a statement.
“Born in Rome, Italy, Charles was immensely proud of his Italian heritage and his deep connections to Western Sydney,” WSROC said in a statement.
“Mr Casuscelli will be missed by WSROC staff and the WSROC Board.
“Our thoughts are with Mr Casuscelli’s family at this difficult time.”
Mr Casuscelli was previously a Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly representing Strathfield from March 2011 to March 2015. While in the Legislative Assembly, he sat on the Legislative Assembly Committee on Law and Safety and chaired the Legislative Assembly Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and was otherwise active in many areas of political and community affairs.
A former Army Officer (1987 – 1991), Mr Casuscelli remained an active member of the Australian Army Reserve and was presented with the Reserve Forces Decoration (RFD) in 1993. He was a member of the RSL Defence Subbranch and acted as a Defence Liaison Officer with the Australian Defence Force.
Subsequently, Mr Casuscelli was General Manager, Transport Management Centre, and Project Director, of the Transport Centre Management Project, NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (1997 – 2001).  Between 2001 and 2003, he was the General Manager, Field Operations (NSW and ACT) with NRMA Motoring Services.
Between 2006 and 2011, Mr Casuscelli was Principal Consultant, Operations and Logistic Management Consulting Service.
He was also a member of the Canada Bay Club, Wests Ashfield Leagues Club, and Drummoyne Sailing Club.
