Work begins on Westmeadows community centre

Hume City Council has marked the start of construction on the new Valley Park Community Centre in Westmeadows.

Local MPs Karen Sherry and Iwan Walters attended a sod turning ceremony at the site of the proposed centre last week.

The Valley Park Community Centre is being built to support the growing Westmeadows community, said Mayor, Joseph Haweil.

He said the facility will provide spaces for essential local services and delivery of various programs, including maternal and child health, playgroups and spaces for residents to enjoy shared activities and build a strong and supported community.

Council is delivering the $3.4 million Project in partnership with the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund contribution of $1 million.

Construction is due to be completed in late 2024.
