Wyndham City Council’s tourism destination campaign, ‘A Delightful Lil’ Detour’, has won Silver at the Victorian Tourism Awards in the Tourism Marketing and Campaigns category.
Mayor, Susan McIntyre said the innovative campaign raised the profile of Werribee and Surrounds and built awareness of the city as a must visit destination.
“Werribee and Surrounds offers a delightful mix of attractions incomparable to any other destination within 30 minutes of the Melbourne CBD,” the Mayor said.
Destination Wyndham portfolio holder, Councillor Heather Marcus said the campaign successfully positioned Werribee and Surrounds as a destination that’s easy to get to and with lots to offer, from animal encounters at Werribee Open Range Zoo and outdoor adventures in Point Cook Coastal Park, to enjoying local wines at Shadowfax Winery.
“It’s a delightful little detour that could easily fill an hour, a day or a weekend,” she said.
“We’re thrilled with how well the campaign performed. A new phase of the Delightful Lil’ Detour campaign launched this month.”
The Victorian Tourism Awards, hosted annually by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), honours business excellence and performance within the industry.
A total of 111 submissions were made this year, all vying for awards across 31 various categories.
Bendigo was awarded Gold and the Bronze went to Tourism Greater Geelong & The Bellarine.
