Whyalla Airport colouring competition takes off

Budding Whyalla artists are being invited to put their creativity on show through the Fulton Hogan Whyalla Airport Colouring Competition, launched in celebration of the airport’s runway upgrade.

Supported by Whyalla City Council, the initiative gives local kids the chance to win some amazing prizes — all provided by Fulton Hogan – while getting involved in the airport project.

First prize is a $1,000 Qantas voucher, second prize is a $250 Tonz A Toys voucher and third prize is a $150 voucher to Bowland Bowling Alley.

Fulton Hogan Project Manager for the Whyalla Airport Runway Project, Hayden Dutney said the competition was a way to give back to the community that had welcomed them during the works.

“Fulton Hogan are thrilled to partner with the Whyalla City Council and launch the Whyalla Airport Colouring Competition for kids of all ages,” Mr Dutney said.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working on the Whyalla Airport Runway Project for the last few months and have experienced a great amount of support from the community. We believe in creating, connecting, and caring for communities and this is one of the ways we are giving back and showing our appreciation to Whyalla.

“We hope the colouring competition and Whyalla Airport Runway Upgrade inspires our next generation of infrastructure and aviation professionals. We hope you enjoy the competition!”

Council’s Youth Activation Officer, Chloe Fisher said it was a fun way to celebrate the project while involving Whyalla’s younger residents.

“This is a great opportunity for local kids and teens to connect with a major city project in a creative way — and the prizes are incredible,” Ms Fisher said.

“We’re excited to see the colourful entries come through and to showcase the talent in our community.”

There will be three winners, with prizes including vouchers for travel and several local businesses.

The competition is now open, with winners selected by representatives from Fulton Hogan and Council and notified directly.
