Western Downs trainees clock on for 2022

Queensland’s Western Downs Regional Council has welcomed 21 trainees and apprentices this month as part of Council’s Early Career program.

The new intake of trainees and apprentices will spend their time with Council in Chinchilla, Dalby, Miles and Tara and will finish their traineeships and apprenticeships with industry experience and clear career path options, Council said in a statement.

Spokesperson for Finance, Corporate Services and Business Strategy, Councillor Ian Rasmussen said Council was committed to providing the residents of the Western Downs with career development and employment opportunities.

“This year we welcome trainees and apprentices across several disciplines including diesel fitting, plumbing, parks and gardens, water operations, civil construction, rural services, information technology, and business,” Cr Rasmussen said.

“Council is extremely proud to be able to offer traineeships and apprenticeships to our residents and give them a wonderful opportunity to kickstart their careers in the Western Downs.

“It’s the people that make the Western Downs such a fantastic, vibrant place to live, work and prosper. These traineeships and apprenticeships allow our residents to build valuable skills and qualifications to further their career and further enrich our region.”

Disability Business Trainee, Sebastian Curtis.

Disability Business Trainee, Sebastian Curtis is a proud advocate for helping the community and said he looked forward to taking advantage of all the amazing opportunities offered by Council.
