Warrnambool Library giving the Christmas gift of reading

This Christmas the Warrnambool Library is encouraging bibliophiles to share their passion for books with families who may not be in a position to buy their own.

“Our 2024 Give the gift of reading this Christmas campaign is under way,” Library Manager Maryanne Vagg said.

“Those in a position to donate a new book can drop it into the library up to December 20.

“The Library team will then pass the books on to local support agencies who are best placed to match the books with families from across Warrnambool and the region.”

Donated books must be new, unwrapped and suitable for readers aged up to 18 years.

“Please drop your books off at the service desk, we’ll ensure all books are distributed to families before Christmas.”

Warrnambool Mayor, Ben Blain said it was great to have the library involved in the campaign.

“And for those who might be wondering how to access the amazing resources at the library, everyone is welcome to become a library member.”

“It’s free and provides access to tens of thousands of books and magazines along with study spaces, computers, free wi-fi and a great program of special events and speakers,” he said.
