Wagga trees turn pink and blue for infant loss awareness

Roadside trees in Wagga Wagga’s Fitzmaurice Street are glowing pink and blue for the month of October for a special cause.

Wagga Wagga City Council has illuminated the trees to assist in the promotion of Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month.

“This month, people around the world will take time to remember those who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby,” Council said in a statement.

Wagga Wagga’s ‘The Vilomah Community’, established in 2021, supports bereaved families in the Riverina following stillbirth.

Founders, Bek and Megan, set up the support service so that no family ever has to walk the journey of pregnancy and infant loss alone. They can be contacted at: www.vilomahcommunity.com.

Wagga Wagga City Council’s Manager Community Services, Madeleine Scully said the temporary lighting display was a practical way that Council can support the community to raise the profile of important local, state and national community awareness campaigns.
