The Shire of Wiluna received a $200,000 Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant from the WA Government to help establish a new caravan park in the regional town.
Goldfields-Esperance Minister, David Michael, officially opened the Wiluna Caravan Park during a visit to the Northern Goldfields this week.
The event provided an opportunity for visitors to tour the caravan park facilities and cabins, followed by a barbecue lunch utilising the new camp kitchen.Â
“I am always pleased to see firsthand the positive impacts the Regional Economic Development Grants are having on regional communities,” said Minister Michael.
“The Wiluna Caravan Park is attracting more visitors, encouraging longer stays and supporting local businesses.
“It’s a great example of how targeted investment in regional infrastructure can strengthen tourism and the local economy.”
The caravan park offers 22 powered caravan sites and a campground along with a well-equipped camp kitchen, free laundry facilities, ablutions and wi-fi. The caravan park also has seven cabins and two family suites.Â
The Shire reports that since opening three months ago, more than 528 guests have stayed at the park, with visitor numbers to local attractions rising 20 per cent since June 2024.
The project was jointly funded by a State Government Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant, Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Shire of Wiluna.
