Four Victorian councils have joined forces to host a series of free grant writing workshops across north-west Victoria later this month.
The Grants Guy Roadshow – from March 24 to 27 – will feature six free workshops facilitated by ‘the Grants Guy’ Keith Whelan, and is presented by Swan Hill Rural City Council, Balranald Shire Council, Gannawarra Shire Council, and Murray River Council.
Council’s Director of Development and Planning, Michelle Grainger, highlighted the success of the free grant writing workshop held at SuniTAFE – Swan Hill last November, funded by the Community Recovery Hub initiative.
She said the positive response demonstrated a clear need for additional grant writing workshops in the future.
“The response we received from the workshop in November was tremendous. We had 45 participants attend both in-person and online. We also heard from many people who were unable to attend due to timing or distance,” she said.
“When the opportunity arose to be involved in the roadshow collaboration with other councils, we were very keen.”
“Keith conducted the grant writing workshop in November last year, and we’re thrilled that he’s able to conduct all six of the workshops throughout the Grants Guy Roadshow,” said Ms Grainger.
The Grants Guy Roadshow includes three grant workshops designed for community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals aiming to master the art of grant writing. These workshops include Grant Writing, Community Capacity Building, and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD).
