Victor Harbor wins back-to-back tourism titles

Victor Harbor Mayor, Moira Jenkins.

Victor Harbor has been officially named the recipient of SA’s Top Tourism Town Award, securing the title for the second consecutive year.

Announced at the Hello SA Top Tourism Town Awards night in Glenelg on Tuesday, the award recognises a town that offers amazing visitor experiences and is committed to developing tourism.

City of Victor Harbor Mayor, Moira Jenkins said Victor Harbor was very deserving of the prestigious title.

“We’ve always been a fantastic place to visit, however recently we’ve re-established and certified our spot on the map. Council’s investments into our city and our world-class tourism businesses really elevate our town as a must-see destination,” the Mayor said.

“Victor Harbor has changed and there are many new things to discover. Over the past few years we’ve seen our new Causeway built, major upgrades to our Mainstreet Precinct and Railway Plaza Precinct, plus the opening of our fresh new-look Visitor Centre.

“This award has come at perfect timing as we enter a magical time on the south coast – the start of the whale season! If you’re looking for things to do this long weekend, come on down to experience all that Victor Harbor has to offer, including many activities as part of our Winter Whale Fest.”

The Mayor said Victor Harbor’s success can be attributed to the strong collaboration between the Council and Business Victor Harbor, the many outstanding tourism operators in the city, and the development of a new ‘Feel It Calling’ destination brand.

“The ‘Feel It Calling’ brand captures the gravitational pull that draws people to Victor Harbor and generates excitement about all our town has to offer. Victor Harbor continues to evolve, presenting new experiences for everyone, whether they visit every weekend or once every few years.”

Introduced in 2021, the Top Tourism Town Awards celebrate the value of tourism to towns across Australia.

The awards are coordinated by Tourism Industry Council SA (TiCSA) with support from Hello SA, the South Australian Visitor Information Servicing Network, Local Government Association of South Australia, and SA Life magazine.

TiCSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Shaun de Bruyn, commended all winners and entrants.

“We extend our congratulations to the winners and participants of the 2024 South Australian Top Tourism Town Awards for enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of our state’s tourism sector.”

“Each tourism town contributes its unique charm to South Australia, delivering outstanding experiences to visitors locally, nationally, and internationally.”
