Twin tourism wins for City of Parramatta

Parramatta’s 2025 Lunar New Year celebrations and the City’s iconic Town Hall have been crowned winners at this year’s Western Sydney Tourism Awards.

The awards showcase the best of Western Sydney’s visitor economy and reward tourism excellence.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor, Martin Zaiter said it was an honour for the City’s events and venues to be recognised among the best in Western Sydney.

“Parramatta has again proven itself as the home of events, sports and entertainment,” Lord Mayor Zaiter said.

“This year’s Lunar New Year event was our biggest yet and came only days after our huge Australia Day and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“On top of that, thousands have gathered in our historic Town Hall for weddings, birthdays, conferences and events, since it reopened after its $30 million plus restoration in December 2023.”

The Council’s 2025 Lunar New Year celebrations were the Platinum Winner of the Events Campaign Category, beating Liverpool City Council’s ‘Starry Sari Night’, which was named the Gold winner.

Parramatta Town Hall tied with Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley for Silver in the Meeting/Conference Venue of the Year category.

The City’s PHIVE was also named a finalist in the same category.

“Our staff work incredibly hard to promote and deliver our major events and world class facilities for our residents and visitors, so it’s wonderful to receive this recognition,” Lord Mayor Zaiter said.

“The warmer weather is coming, and I encourage everyone to keep an eye out for information about all our big events as they return for Summer.”
