Town of Walkerville Council CEO, Andrew MacDonald, has resigned from the organisation to take up the reins at Alexandrina Council.
Mr MacDonald (pictured) said that while it was a tough choice to leave the Town of Walkerville, leading the community where he grew up had long been a personal aspiration.
“This has been an extremely difficult decision for me, as I have established close relationships with staff, Council Members and the community,” Mr MacDonald said.
“Together, we have developed a positive workplace culture and achieved significant momentum with Council’s major projects.
“I am extremely confident that in my absence, Council will successfully deliver all major projects and will continue to grow the positive culture we enjoy today.”
Mayor Melissa Jones said Mr MacDonald’s leadership had been pivotal in both fostering a collaborative environment within the Town of Walkerville and advancing Council’s key redevelopments – including the 39 Smith Street recreation centre and the Walkerville Oval precinct.
“In his short tenure, Andrew’s contributions to the Town of Walkerville have made a lasting impact – particularly in fostering a ‘One Team’ approach with Council Members, staff and our community,” Mayor Jones said.
“While we will miss his vision and dedication, and are disappointed to see him depart Walkerville, we are pleased he is able to fulfil a personal aspiration in leading his home community in this new chapter in his career.
“Alexandrina is fortunate to welcome a passionate and experienced leader. We wish him all the best in his role as CEO at their Council.”
Mr MacDonald will commence as the new CEO of Alexandrina Council in the coming months. In the interim, he will stay on board at Town of Walkerville to ensure a smooth transition for all staff, Council Members and the community.
