Toowoomba to review heritage incentives policy

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is undertaking a review of its Heritage Incentives Policy.

TRC Planning and Development Committee Chair, Megan O’Hara Sullivan said the policy oversees the CBD Heritage Incentives Scheme grants.

“The CBD Heritage Incentives Scheme provides grants on a competitive basis for approved conservation works. Under the scheme, Council contributes $1 for every $2 spent in conservation works up to a maximum contribution by Council of $10,000 per project,” Cr O’Hara Sullivan said.

“Council is hoping to improve the uptake of the Heritage Incentives Scheme grants, undertaking the policy review will allow us to explore ways to make the scheme more accessible.”

Council is seeking feedback from the community about their experiences with the scheme and how residents would like to use it in the future.

“You don’t have to own a Heritage Building to have your say, you could operate a business nearby a Heritage Building, or have an interest in maintaining our valued places,” said Cr O’Hara Sullivan.
