Toowoomba stands in solidarity with Bondi victims

The Toowoomba community will come together today to stand in solidarity with those affected by the Bondi Beach terrorism attack.

A community gathering will be held at 3pm at the Village Green adjacent to Toowoomba City Hall.

Residents are also invited to lay flowers or wreaths at any time at the ‘Unity’ dry fountain near the flag poles in Village Green.

Toowoomba Region Mayor, Geoff McDonald said the gathering would provide an opportunity for the community to come together and reaffirm a shared commitment to bringing light into darkness.

“This gathering is about solidarity and compassion. It is about standing together in the face of violence and affirming the values that unite us including caring for one another, respecting difference, and committing to peace,” Mayor McDonald said.

“As a visible sign of our support and unity, the Victoria Street Bridge in Toowoomba will also be illuminated in white from Friday evening and throughout the weekend, serving as a symbol of remembrance, unity, and hope.

“Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to compassion, unity, and bringing light into darkness,” he said.
