Toowoomba Regional Council has commenced a recruitment process to appoint a new Chair and Directors to the Board of Empire Theatres Pty Ltd, in a move set to strengthen the future of one of regional Australia’s most iconic cultural institutions.
With the current Board’s term concluding on 17 April, there is an opportunity for experienced directors to join the Board and guide the Empire’s long-term operational performance, cultural vibrancy and strong connection to community.
To ensure there is an independent and merit based selection process, Council has partnered with executive recruitment specialist OnTalent to lead the search.
Council CEO, Sal Petroccitto OAM said the recruitment represented an important milestone in shaping the next chapter of the Empire Theatres story.
“Council is undertaking a detailed review of its controlled entities to ensure they are well positioned for the future,” Mr Petroccitto said.
“This recruitment process will support the governance of the Empire Theatres and strengthen its role as a cultural, social and economic asset for our Region.
“As custodian of one of the largest performing arts venues in regional Australia, Empire Theatres enriches cultural life, welcomes visitors from across the state and contributes to the social and economic vibrancy of the Toowoomba Region. These paid statutory appointments present a rare opportunity to help steward a much-loved cultural treasure and guide its artistic and commercial future.”
Mr Petroccitto acknowledged retiring Chair, Andrew Wielandt’s contribution after nearly two decades on the Board and his service and commitment to the arts and Toowoomba community.
