Third term for North Sydney Mayor

Mayor Zoƫ Baker.

Councillor Zoƫ Baker has been re-elected as Mayor of North Sydney Council, with Councillor Godfrey Santer re-elected as Deputy Mayor, at an Extraordinary Meeting.

Following last month’s elections, the new North Sydney Council met for the first time last night, with five new and five returning Councillors taking their oaths and affirmations.

Mayor Baker was previously elected as North Sydney Mayor in January 2022, following the 2021 Local Government elections and was then re-elected in September 2023.

“Thank you for your good faith and trust in me,” said Mayor Baker.

“Thank you for the honour and privilege to serve as Mayor and to continue to work collaboratively with this new Council to serve our exceptional North Sydney community.

“This recent election marks a turning point, a turning of the page towards a new era. I am really excited that this Council has an opportunity to reset – to work constructively and collaboratively with each other, Council staff and our community, to grab the opportunities before us.”

Mayor Baker will serve in the role for two years until September 2026. Deputy Mayor Santer will serve in the role until September 2025.
