Swanhill Mayor takes leave of absence

Swanhill Rural City Councillors yesterday accepted a leave of absence request from Mayor Jade Benham, with Deputy Mayor, Bill Moar, to step in to the role.

Council says Cr Moar will be Acting Mayor until the next mayoral election, to be held in November.

He has previously served as Mayor for two terms and was elected to Council in 2016.

“Together with Council, I look forward to moving ahead with the many exciting projects, while also ensuring Council’s core business of providing services and facilities to our community continues,” Cr Moar said.

Councillor Benham was elected Mayor in December last year – her first term in the top job following a previous term as Deputy Mayor.
