Armidale is set to welcome two new Superfast Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers in the Cinders Lane car park behind the Armidale Regional Council’s Civic Administration Building.
The two 150kW Ocular high-capacity DC fast chargers can accommodate up to four vehicles simultaneously.
“The new chargers are a win-win for both the environment and our economy,” said ARC Mayor, Sam Coupland.
“Fast EV chargers reduce the carbon footprint of travellers passing through our town as well as those who live here and choose to drive electric or hybrid vehicles.
“By installing these new, fast EV chargers we’re encouraging travellers to stop and spend time in our town, giving a real boost to local businesses like cafes, restaurants, and shops.
“This project aligns perfectly with our Brilliant Regions Strategy and our commitment to sustainability, helping us contribute to a cleaner, greener future.”
The project will be funded by Council via the Oxley Solar Farm Planning Agreement. The installation is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
