Shire of Murray Council has installed new Fire Danger Rating signs in Dwellingup, North Dandalup and Coolup, providing residents and visitors with timely access to critical bushfire and emergency information.
The new signs will display the daily Fire Danger Rating for the district, along with important messages relating to fire restrictions, Total Fire Bans, Harvest and Vehicle Movement Bans, weather warnings and emergency preparedness information.
A key feature of the new signs is their remote management capability, which allows Council staff to update messaging in real time.
Shire of Murray President, Douglas McLarty said the signs have been strategically located to ensure communities in key areas of the Shire have easy access to up-to-date emergency information, particularly during the bushfire season.
“Community safety remains a priority for the Shire of Murray, and these new signs will play an important role in keeping residents and visitors informed about changing fire conditions and emergency management information,” said President McLarty.
Alcoa Pinjarra Refinery Operations Manager, Jodie Giraudo said community safety is everyone’s responsibility, and these signs help ensure people have the information they need to act early.
“Having clear, visible and up-to-date fire danger information in key locations helps people make informed decisions early, which can make a real difference in protecting lives and property during bushfire season,” said Ms Giraudo.
