Shellharbour festival to mark disability day

Shellharbour City Council is set to host a series of events in recognition of International Day of People with Disability on 3 December.

In conjunction with Wollongong City Council, regional events have been organised for the launch of the Celebration of Ability Calendar and will run until Friday 9 December across the Illawarra

Shellharbour City Mayor, Chris Homer said the event was a great way to share and enjoy the accessible and disability-friendly activities in the Illawarra region.

“The Celebration of Ability Calendar is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the valuable contribution people with a disability make to our community,” Mayor Homer said.

“I encourage people with a disability and their families to take part in the fantastic activities throughout Shellharbour and Wollongong.”

The festival will be fully accessible and inclusive, with workshops, activities, exhibitions, community information sessions and more on offer.

NDIS providers, carers and people living with a disability are being encouraged to attend.
