Rockhampton road upgrade completed

Rockhampton Regional Council has recently completed a local road rehabilitation project thanks to $1.2 million in funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

Infrastructure Councillor, Ellen Smith said the decision to initiate the upgrade on Campbell Street was prompted by the road asset reaching the end of its operational lifespan.

“One of the primary objectives of this project was to improve traffic flow and parking facilities along Campbell Street,” Cr Smith said.

The upgrade involved a range of improvements, including the installation of new kerb and channel structures, replacement and upgrading of pavement surfaces, asphalt overlay, and landscaping to contribute to the street’s overall ambiance.

“The pavement and kerb rehabilitation undertaken during this project also anticipates a reduction in the maintenance demand for this road section, saving valuable resources over the long term.”

“With these upgrades in place motorists can enjoy smoother journeys and more accessible on-street parking options,” Cr Smith said.

Works commenced in February and are now fully complete, with the road now re-opened to all traffic.
