Recruitment begins for new Lithgow GM

Lithgow Councillors last night voted to offer Director of Finance, Ross Gurney, the role of Acting General Manager from 30 June when Craig Butler departs the role.

In a statement, the Council said Mr Gurney had considerable Council experience and deep insight to the key issues and challenges for local government more generally.

“Recognising the significance of the role of General Manager, it was also resolved that recruitment of a new person commence immediately,” the Council said.

This decision was supported by eight of the nine councillors.

“This Council, and the city that we are leading into the future, has a positive momentum,” said Mayor, Maree Statham.

“Last night the Council took important decisions which will ensure that momentum is not lost, and that we use best practice and move promptly to recruit the right professional for the future.”
