Randwick council backs new markets

Randwick City Council has announced the launch of a new market at Heffron Park, Maroubra from Sunday 19 October.

The new markets will be held undercover on the third Sunday of every month at Heffron Park’s netball stadium and feature more than 100 stalls, food vendors, and free live music and entertainment.

The new Heffron Park Markets build on the popularity of the Maroubra Beach Markets, which launched in June last year and quickly became a much-loved local event. The beachside markets will continue to operate on the first Saturday of every month, giving locals and visitors two exciting opportunities each month to shop local, said Mayor, Dylan Parker.

The Mayor said the new markets reflected Council’s commitment to supporting small businesses, revitalising public spaces and providing more opportunities for people to connect.

“Following the huge success of our Maroubra Beach Markets, we are launching a second monthly market – this time at Heffron Park – to give community members more options to shop, gather, dine and enjoy our beautiful city,” he said.

“The new Heffron Park Markets will have all the things our community members love about the markets at Maroubra Beach – fresh produce, artisan products, food, fashion, homewares, art, live entertainment, vintage goods – plus the added benefit of shelter and shade, making it a great shopping destination rain or shine.”

Applications to become a stallholder or food vendor for Heffron Park Markets are now open. Businesses can apply here.
