A further 500 new homes will be unlocked in Rockhampton with construction of a critical infrastructure project set to be fast-tracked under the State Government’s landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund.
The Government has today announced funding of $4.3 million under the Residential Activation Fund will support the construction of a critical project in Rockhampton for the delivery 505 new homes.
The funding will go towards road connection upgrades, including lights and traffic signage, as well as stormwater infrastructure to support the Living Gems Rockhampton Retirement Village development.
Rockhampton Regional Council Mayor, Tony Williams said the funding was another great win for the region and would ensure more homes, and a greater diversity of housing stock, was brought to the market.
“We know we need to tackle the housing crisis at every section of the market and ensure there is a greater diversity of housing stock to meet local residents and families changing needs,” Mayor Williams said.
“These investments will not only deliver new homes but actively reduce pressure in other areas of the market. That’s as good thing and a good thing for Rockhampton.”
