Hawkesbury City Council has issued a brief statement regarding the shock stabbing of Mayor, Patrick Conolly, by intruders who forced their way into his family’s home overnight.
“Hawkesbury City Council can confirm that there was an invasion at the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Conolly’s house last night,” Council said.
“The Mayor was injured during the invasion but he has received treatment and his family were uninjured.
“The NSW Police Force is investigating the incident.”
Police say the Mayor was stabbed in the arm during a home invasion near Windsor this morning, which they are so far treating as a case of mistaken identity.
Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command were called to a home on Porpoise Crescent, Bligh Park, about 12.45am, responding to reports several men had forced entry into the home, Police said in a statement.
“On arrival, police located a 32-year-old man with a stab wound to his left upper arm.”
“He was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition,” Police said.
Police have been told five to six men forced entry into the home and threatened Mayor Conolly before he was stabbed.
The men then drove from the scene in the family’s white Skoda, taking some personal items from the home with them.
Mayor Conolly’s wife and four young children were home at the time of the incident. They were shaken but uninjured, Police said.
