Police Dog ‘Cooper’ has tracked down a man wanted over the theft of City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Council tools from a shipping container.
South Australia Police say that just before 2am Sunday, sfficers were called to a park on Winchester Street after a vigilant member of the public reported hearing what sounded like an angle grinder.
“Eastern patrols and PD Cooper attended, with patrols arriving at the park first and finding a Council shipping container containing tools had been broken into and a suspicious van parked nearby,” SA Police said in a statement.
“When PD Cooper arrived, he commenced tracking south pulling his handler along the Linear Park tail. Cooper tracked past the small swing bridge, past the weir and the billabong to an area near the corner of Harrow Road and Torrens Street.
“After some short negotiations a 34-year-old Bute man emerged from some scrub and handed himself over to police without incident,” Police said.
He was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises, property damage and theft.
