Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese will land in Brisbane today for a briefing with Queensland Premier, Steven Miles at the Queensland Disaster Coordination Centre.
“The situation in Cairns and Far North Queensland remains critical. A huge thanks to all our emergency services and ADF personnel who are on the ground helping,” the Prime Minister said prior to his departure for Brisbane this morning.
“We are working closely with the Queensland Government and local councils to assist those affected.
“The immediate task is to keep people safe. And there will be longer term recovery efforts like rebuilding roads and infrastructure.
“We will do everything we can to help communities with the challenges ahead,” Mr Albanese said.
