City of Coffs Harbour Council has progressed plans for the revitalisation of one of City’s most strategically important precincts, committing to the forecast budget required to complete a detailed design for the Jetty Strip.
The Council says the reimagination of the hospitality and tourism gateway to the Jetty Foreshores is a complex project given the number of stakeholders involved and the need to relocate all utility services.
Infrastructure at the Jetty Strip will also have to account for the slated redevelopment of the Jetty Foreshores.
At its recent meeting, Council noted an expected required budget of $2.5 million to complete the detailed design, with $500,000 set aside in this year’s budget, and an expected $1,560,000 in 2027/28 and $440,000 in 2028/29.
“It is an enormously complicated and expensive project – completion of the Jetty Strip works is estimated at some $26 million (stages 1, 1A and 2). But it’s also a tremendously important project for Coffs Harbour,” said Mayor, Nikki Williams.
“Getting the detailed design work done and having the project shovel-ready will improve our prospects of attracting external funding.”
Council Infrastructure Director, Andrew Beswick said traffic signal final approval may take 18 to 24 months.
“To expedite that the City suggests engagement of an external design team – one accustomed to navigating the TfNSW process efficiently, to limit the risk of delay,” Mr Beswick said.
