Light Regional Council’s Manager, Development Services, Lisa Sapio, has received an award for her contribution to the planning profession.
The Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) awarded Ms Sapio (pictured, centre) a Commendation in the Outstanding Woman in Planning Award category at the ‘Women in Planning’ breakfast on Tuesday.
The event celebrated the valued contribution that women make to the planning profession and wider community.
South Australia’s inaugural ‘Outstanding Woman in Planning Award’ was launched to acknowledge and celebrate the important contribution that women planners make to planning as a profession and to the outcomes of planning work in South Australia.
Light Regional Council General Manager – Strategy and Development, Craig Doyle, said “This is a remarkable recognition, particularly given the strong field of nominations for this prestigious Award.”
“This Commendation recognises Lisa’s contribution as a resolute and passionate planning practitioner, her extensive professional experience and her history of delivering high quality development outcomes. It also acknowledges her longstanding involvement with Country Planning Officers Group, contributions to professional forums and mentoring of her fellow professionals.”
Ms Sapio’s detailed and thorough assessment of several key planning projects in the region is but one telling indicator of the calibre of Lisa as a planning professional, he said.
Council CEO, Brian Carr said, “Council is indeed fortunate to have a planner of Lisa’s prowess amongst our professional staff. Lisa’s contributions and professional approach have been outstanding over many years, and I’m delighted that her peers in the planning profession have chosen to recognise her in this way, both as a role model and example for her fellow professionals.”
