Parramatta economic growth plan goes on exhibition

Parramatta’s ambitious plan to become Western Sydney’s job engine has taken a vital next step with City of Parramatta Council’s draft City Economy Strategy 2025-2035 now on public exhibition.

The Council says the Strategy has been designed to help it identify key projects and opportunities to reach its goal of creating 150,000 extra jobs by 2050 across the local area.

Lord Mayor, Martin Zaiter said it’s another great opportunity for the community to tell the Council what is important to them as the City grows and changes over the next 25 years.

“Council is determined to pull all the levers we can to achieve our ambitious goal of creating 150,000 additional jobs by 2050, so that future residents have jobs across a range of sectors close to home,” Lord Mayor Zaiter said.

Council’s City Economy Strategy contains three key priorities, Productivity, Place and People. It sets actions that Council undertake over the next four years to drive employment growth in Parramatta including a retail strategy, advocating to preserve jobs in the CBD and expanding Council’s small business program.

“Once complete, this strategy will keep Council on track towards our Parramatta 2050 goals, transforming our area into the economic powerhouse of Greater Sydney and beyond,” Lord Mayor Zaiter said.

“For these reasons, I encourage our residents to join us on this journey, provide feedback and help make our City the most attractive place to live, work and play.”
