The Local Government Association of South Australia has begun reviewing resources available to support councils, candidates and members arising from changes to local government elections in South Australia that have now passed both houses of State Parliament.
The Statutes Amendment (Local Government Election Review) Bill 2025 has assented and will be in effect before the November 2026 local government elections.
The Association will officer practical training for council staff supporting election and transition planning.
“LGA is developing a new mandatory training program for council members, launching in 2026,” the LGA said.
“The program will cover all training areas, including building an effective team culture from the start, strategic leadership and the essential modules to set your council up for success.
“We will be working with a range of key stakeholders and reputable providers to bring a quality learning experience.”
