Golden Plains Shire Council has joined with Member for Geelong, Christine Couzens, to officially open the Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade.
The skatepark has undergone a significant transformation, emerging as a dynamic recreational and social space tailored to the needs of the town’s growing community. Upgrades include a multipurpose skate bowl, an inviting community space inclusive of street furniture, a BBQ, shelter, facility lighting and connecting pathways.
The Bannockburn Skate Park Upgrade was made possible through a collaborative funding effort, with $805,000 from the State Government and $192,881 from Council.
“Bannockburn is a town experiencing rapid growth, particularly amongst its young population. This incredible facility is part of our ongoing commitment to provide top-quality recreational facilities for the community,” said Councillor, Gavin Gamble.
“This is a fun, safe hub for our community and with features like the brand-new state-of-the-art skate bowl, it’s sure to be a hit with locals and visitors,” he said.
“We’re excited to officially open the upgraded skate park, which is a great space for young people from Bannockburn and the surrounding area,” Ms Couzens.
“This is a recreational space that local families can enjoy and deserve to have in their community.”
