Shellharbour City Council’s newly elected representatives have been officially sworn in.
Mayor Chris Homer was re-elected to the Council’s top job and said he felt honoured and privileged to be entrusted by the Shellharbour community for another term.
“Knowing that the Shellharbour community are happy with the progress we’ve made during my first term, and on board with the future vision for our region is very rewarding,” he said.
“I look forward to seeing the continual growth and development of our vibrant community with environmental sustainability as my key focus.”
Joining Mayor Homer and taking their oaths of office last night were the new council line-up of returning Councillors Kellie Marsh, John Davey, Moira Hamilton, Lou Stefanovski, and Rob Petreski and new Councillors Mitch Ellis, Craig Ridding and Kane Murphy.
Council CEO, Mike Archer congratulated the returning Mayor and Councillors, and offered a special welcome to the newly-elected Councillors on their appointment.
“Very few people get the opportunity to represent their communities as leaders at the local
government level. To have earned the community’s trust is an admirable achievement,” he said.
“They will have the opportunity to help shape Shellharbour’s future and to make decisions that will leave a legacy for generations to come.”
The next Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, 22 October when a Deputy Mayor will be decided.
