Central Highlands Regional Council has unveiled two new ‘red benches’ at Sapphire and Rubyvale.
There are now four red benches located across the region at the Emerald Library, Blackwater Rotary Park, Sapphire Skate Park and Rubyvale Flats.
Mayor, Janice Moriarty said the installation of red benches was a commitment by Council to raise awareness about all forms of violence, especially domestic and family violence.
“The benches remind us that everyone can play a role in making our communities safer for all,” Mayor Moriarty said.
The red bench program is an initiative of the Red Rose Foundation, a national not-for-profit providing direct support to survivors of high-risk high-harm domestic violence.
