State Sporting Associations (SSAs) in Western Australia will soon have access to a new program that provides more pathways for coaches and officials to pursue development opportunities, with the WA Government to invest $400,000 in the program.
The investment over two years will be administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries through the Coaching and Officiating Grants Program.
SSAs can apply for funding of up to $15,000 per round to develop initiatives that provide sustainable and inclusive support to coach and official development.
Programs that promote and encourage diversity or inclusion among the SSAs’ coaches and officials will be given priority, said WA Sport and Recreation Minister, David Templeman.
“This program is seeking applications for initiatives that develop coaches and officials in a way that allows them to adapt and modify their practices to create an environment that includes all,” the Minister said.
Funding can be used for the recruitment, training and education of new and existing coaches and officials, coaching workshops, accreditation for talent identified, and high-performance coaches and officials, including those involved in Paralympic sport.
Applications are open from Monday March 14, 2022 to Friday April 1, 2022.
