Blue Mountains City Council has announced Medlow Bath Park will soon welcome a new performance platform, creating more opportunities for local events, performances and community gatherings.
The project has been driven by the Medlow Bath community, following recognition of the need for opportunities for greater community connection and given as feedback during Council’s Neighbourhood Parks Program, which identified a desire for additional features beyond the scope of the original upgrade.
The Medlow Bath Residents Association secured funding through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Program for the project, with additional support from Transport for NSW.
Blue Mountains City Council will deliver the works in partnership with the Residents Association.
Mayor, Mark Greenhill said the project is a great example of what can be achieved when community ideas are supported and brought to life through strong partnerships.
“This performance platform is a direct result of the community’s vision for Medlow Bath Park,” Mayor Greenhill said.
“It builds on the recent upgrades and creates new opportunities for local events, creativity and connection, making the park an even more vibrant place for people to come together.”
The platform will include an electrical connection to support small-scale performances and activities, helping to activate the park and encourage greater community use.
“Our community has worked very hard, and with great joy for many years, developing and establishing events to increase connection within our community, with great success,” said Medlow Bath Residents Association President, Debra Brown.
“The Performance Space will greatly enhance these regular events and be a beneficial shared resource for the Upper Blue Mountains. This project has been a wonderful collaboration and partnership between BMCC and Medlow Bath Residents Association.
“We greatly appreciate the support of BMCC, the NSW Government through their Community Building Partnership Program and Transport for NSW. This is a strong example of what can be achieved when community, Council and government work together to deliver meaningful local improvements.”
