New national security website launched

It’s hoped improvements to Australia’s national security website, which was relaunched today, will make it easier for Australians to protect themselves from terrorism and find information about what to do in a terrorist attack.

Minister for Home Affairs, Karen Andrews said Australians couldn’t be complacent about the terrorist threat, and that recent tragic attacks in the United Kingdom and New Zealand demonstrated the need for ongoing vigilance.

“The National Terrorism Threat Level remains at ‘probable’. Australia is a safe country, and while no one should be afraid – we should all continue to be vigilant,” Minister Andrews said.

“The updated National Security website gives Australians the tools and resources they need to report possible signs of terrorism and violent extremism. It provides easy access to information about what you should do to stay safe in the event of an attack.

“The new website also makes it easier for businesses to understand any risks they may face, how to audit their existing security measures, and get advice about how to keep themselves, their assets, people and customers safe.”

The revamped website can be accessed at nationalsecurity.gov.au.
