HCA Healthcare Australia (HCA) will take over Council immunisation services for residents in the Baw Baw Shire, City of Casey and Cardinia Shire from 1 July, following endorsement of a new shared service contract last week by the three Councils.
Under the contract, HCA will provide all immunisations covered by the National Immunisation Program, including infant community sessions, school immunisations, municipal flu programs, and assessment and catchup services.
The three Councils currently have a shared contract with Kernow Environmental Services, to provide immunisation services in each of the municipalities. With the current contract due to expire, it was an appropriate time to review the service and consider any opportunities for improvement, said City of Casey Mayor, Stefan Koomen.
“The new contract allows Councils to further streamline the administration for our immunisation service, ensuring we have a sustainable and scalable service that provides the best value for ratepayers,” said Mayor Koomen.
“HCA is a highly capable, community-focused organisation that has a proven record in health management and community activation.”
Following a competitive tender process, the councils say HCA was chosen for their ability to meet the current and future needs for growing communities.
“We were also impressed with the range of programs that HCA will provide, which will contribute to improving overall health and wellbeing across our region and have a positive impact on the broader community,” said Baw Baw Mayor, Kate Wilson.
“We are very pleased to partner with HCA who currently have over 50 years of trusted experience in healthcare services,” said Shire of Cardinia Mayor, Brett Owen.
“For residents, the shared contract between our three Councils means they will have access to even more centres across all three municipalities, providing them with greater flexibility.
The Councils say they will work with the current provider, Kernow Environmental Services, to ensure a seamless transition and implement the change.
