New Hobart CEO gets to work

Experienced local government executive, Michael Stretton, has commenced in the role of City of Hobart Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Stretton, who was formerly City of Launceston Council CEO, said he was looking forward to getting down to business.

“I’m excited to join the incredible team at the City of Hobart and look forward to working together with our elected members for the people of Hobart,” he said.

“My priorities over the early months of my tenure will be to work closely with the elected members to understand their vision for the city and ensuring that the organisation is best placed to deliver on that vision both now and into the future.”

Mr Stretton succeeds CEO Kelly Grigsby, who resigned in July 2023 to take up the role of Chief Executive Officer with the Municipal Association of Victoria.

Mr Stretton has been appointed for a term of five years.
