City of Melville Council’s Canning Bridge precinct is home to a growing collection of striking murals by local and high profile artists, and now there’s an exciting new way to explore them with an Art Walk.
The Council has launched a Murals of Canning Bridge Handbook, inviting locals and visitors to take a self-guided walking tour through the precinct, discovering vibrant artworks by a range of local and international artists. The trail is open all day, every day, allowing people to explore at their own pace and enjoy the area on their own schedule.
Each mural tells a story, adding creativity and colour to the streets while reflecting the unique character of Canning Bridge.
“Canning Bridge is a unique and evolving precinct, and we’re proud to support projects that bring colour, energy and a strong sense of community to the area,” said Mayor, Katy Mair.
“The mural trail celebrates the creativity of our community, and the new handbook is a fantastic way to help people explore the precinct, discover local businesses and connect with the space in a fresh and engaging way.”
The handbook is available from participating local businesses and various Council locations, or can be downloaded to your phone via the City’s website.

To complement the self-guided experience, guided mural tours will also be available through local tour company Oh Hey WA. Running from September 2025 to May 2026, these subsidised tours are supported through the Council’s Canning Bridge Place Grants and will include sessions tailored for young people, adults and seniors.
The Canning Bridge Place Grants are funded by reinvesting paid parking revenue from the precinct into projects that help bring vibrancy and creativity to the area.

For families, a companion Murals and More: A Canning Bridge Adventure activity book is also available to help kids engage with the artworks in a fun and interactive way.
“This is a great example of how placemaking can activate Canning Bridge. It encourages people to explore the precinct, discover the amazing murals, and support our local businesses. It’s about turning everyday spaces into places people want to connect with and return to,” said Council Principal – Strategic Place Planning, John Jutras.
