The new Griffith City Council met this week for the first time since the local government elections on 14 September.
The first item on the agenda was the swearing in of the newly-elected Councillors, Mayor, Doug Curran, Laurie Testoni, Christine Stead, Shari Blumer, Jenny Ellis, Anne Napoli, Tony O’Grady, Scott Groat and Mark Dal Bon.
During the meeting, Griffith’s new Deputy Mayor was elected, with Councillor Anne Napoli to hold the office until October 2025.
Councillor Napoli said she looks forward to working with the Mayor and fellow Councillors to
collaboratively bring new ideas and opportunities to Griffith.
“I am looking forward to working as part of a team to lead the city into an exciting future,” she said.
Mayor Curran congratulated Councillor Napoli on her appointment.
“This is an exciting new period for our City and I look forward to working closely with all Councillors in the best interests of Griffith,” he said.
Council General Manager, Brett Stonestreet welcomed the new Councillors.
“On behalf of all Griffith City Council staff, I’d like to formally welcome our new and returning Councillors and congratulate them on their election,” Mr Stonestreet said.
“We look forward to delivering the wonderful projects already in progress, and working together to develop new opportunities for our community.”
