New Deputy Mayor elected for North Sydney

North Sydney Council has elected independent Councillor, MaryAnn Beregi, as the organisation’s new Deputy Mayor position for a 12-month term.

Councillor Beregi, who represents the Cammeraygal ward, was first elected to North Sydney Council in 2012 and has previously served as Deputy Mayor and on a range of Council reference groups and committees, including currently as the Chair, Council’s Access and Inclusion Committee.

Mayor, Zoë Baker welcomed her election, noting Cr Beregi’s tireless commitment to advocating for an inclusive, vibrant and accessible North Sydney, while ensuring Council is fiscally responsible and engages transparently with the community.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Cr Beregi as we continue to serve the North Sydney community together,” Mayor Baker said.

She also thanked outgoing Deputy Mayor Godfrey Santer who served for the previous 12-month term.
