Troy Bailey has been officially sworn in as the community’s newest Mildura Rural City Councillor.
Mildura Mayor, Liam Wood congratulated and welcomed Cr Bailey (pictured), who he said would add fresh ideas and new perspectives to the Council chambers.
“We have a great group of Councillors, all of whom have their own ideas and thoughts on important issues, but we all have the same end goal – doing what’s best for our community,” Mayor Wood said.
“As a new Councillor, Troy will further add to the diversity of ideas and views as we continue to make important decisions on behalf of our community, which is certainly very welcome and healthy.”
Councillor Bailey said he was looking forward to working on behalf of the community.
“It was a huge surprise to learn that I was next in line to be a Councillor, there has been so much change and disruption to our community that have made the last two years a blur,” he said.
“I am now looking forward to joining a team of Councillors and supporting our community’s priorities as we rebuild post-COVID.
“We must reignite our tourism industry, create a fertile place for business to seed and grow, bringing jobs and services.
“We have the climate, the river and wide-open spaces, and I am looking forward to working with the Council to create affordable and liveable communities that maximise their assets.”
